"He is the Good Shepherd"

GOOD MORNING CHURCH FAMILY!
DEVOTIONAL: "The Lord is my shepherd..." [Psalm 23:1a]
The Lord is my shepherd – so powerfully unites all of God’s compound names into a single enduring type of the relationship God desires between Himself and His church. Within the role of shepherd, all of God’s names are brought into beautiful symmetry, the complete expression of God’s love and care for the people He calls His own.
One of the things that emerges very clearly when looking at the names of our God is that no name actually excludes any of the others or stands entirely alone. While today, we seek Jehovah Rapha – the Lord my healer, this must include faith in Jehovah Jireh who provides, in this case everything that is necessary for healing. We must look to Jehovah Nissi, our banner, through which we have the power to overcome. We must also look to Jehovah Shammah, the Lord who is there, steadfast and faithful to hear our prayers and supplications.
When we see all these wonderful assurances revealed in the names of God, we are reminded that our Shepherd is there – He is a place of safety, He is our shelter, and our strength. The Shepherd gives all because the sheep need all. Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep" [John 10:11]. I love the completeness of the imagery encapsulated in The Lord is my Shepherd. The Lord our Shepherd is an enduring distinctive and dominate truth that traces through the entire Bible, through the Old Testament, and into the life of Christ. Say with me, "I am His sheep. I am His and He is mine." TRUE! He knows you by name.
Much love and care,
