"Hope and Love in Jesus"

GOOD MORNING!

DEVOTIONAL:

"He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler." Psalm 91:4

This is a psalm of hope! I encourage you to read the whole psalm. I love the beautiful imagery in this psalm regarding God’s protection…shelter, shadow, refuge, fortress, wings, shield, and buckler.

The Psalmist tells us that we can find safety and refuge when we come to God: “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge” (Psalm 91:4). The picture the psalmist provides here is that of a mother bird hovering around her young. Although the Scriptures describe God as Father, they also speaks of His tender, nurturing, protective characteristics that we often ascribe to mothers. Like the little child who runs to his mother for comfort when he falls and skins his knee, you can run to your loving Heavenly Father. Let Him hug you close between His shoulders and carry you in His arms. Cry your tears and let Him wipe them away. Let His tender love and care embrace and comfort you in your time of pain and hurt and confusion. He longs to cover you with His wings. God is faithful to keep His promises, so you can trust that He will extend His grace to cover you today.
