"For by one Spirit, we... have all been made to drink into one Spirit." I Corinthians 12:13
In Scripture being filled by something means to be controlled by... When the apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian believers, "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit" [Ephesians 5:18 NLT] he was encouraging them to live a life that is controlled by the Holy Spirit. A life controlled by the Holy Spirit is Christ-centered. Gracious. Humble. Loving. Kind. Longsuffering. Forgiving. Obedient. Victorious over sin. Truthful. Edifying. Joyful. Content. Thankful. Pleasing to God. God-glorifying. To be filled with the Spirit means that our bodies belong to God. This means we are holy. We are set-apart by God, to God, for God's sacred use. Wow! This is an amazing honor!
