"Put on Love"
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Here are some quotes made by him that I hope inspire you to walk and reach out in love - sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
“Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude.”
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”
“Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.”
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
"Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos. He who loves is a participant in the being of God."
The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: ’If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’ But... the good Samaritan reversed the question: ’If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’
“Every time I look at the cross I am reminded of the greatness of God and the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. I am reminded of the beauty of sacrificial love and the majesty of unswerving devotion to truth.”
"He who is devoid of the power to forgive, is devoid of the power to love."
"Only in darkness can you see the stars."
Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" [Matthew 5:16]. Our light doesn’t shine more brightly than when we love one another - those who are different than us, those that we disagree with, those who have hurt us, those who are hard to love....
