"Put on Love"

GOOD MORNING!

DEVOTIONAL:

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Here are some quotes made by him that I hope inspire you to walk and reach out in love - sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

  • “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

  • “Forgiveness is not an occasional act. It is a permanent attitude.”

  • “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

  • “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

  • “Let no man pull you so low as to hate him.”

  • “The time is always right to do what is right.”

  • "Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos. He who loves is a participant in the being of God."

  • The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: ’If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’ But... the good Samaritan reversed the question: ’If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?’

  • “Every time I look at the cross I am reminded of the greatness of God and the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. I am reminded of the beauty of sacrificial love and the majesty of unswerving devotion to truth.”

  • "He who is devoid of the power to forgive, is devoid of the power to love."

  • "Only in darkness can you see the stars."

Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" [Matthew 5:16]. Our light doesn’t shine more brightly than when we love one another - those who are different than us, those that we disagree with, those who have hurt us, those who are hard to love....
