Salt & Light
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
God has much for us to do and experience while here on earth. We are the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world." We get to love Jesus, serve others and participate in the redemptive work of the gospel. I firmly believe that the church is God's primary vehicle to reach the world with the love of Jesus. I am also keenly aware that the church isn't a place but the church is a people. God has more for us than just church attendance, as important as that is, He has for us an abundant life which will transform our entire week. The Holy Spirit wasn't given to us to make Sunday epic but to make your week effective. Salt impacts and changes what it touches. Light exposes the darkness [lies] and illuminates the truth [God's truth]. Let's respond to Jesus' invitation to a life on mission. A life empowered and destined to effect change in our world for the glory of God. Life on mission for Jesus - let's do this!
Much love and care, Pastor Pat
