"The Life of A.W. Tozer"

GOOD MORNING!
DEVOTIONAL:
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:24-25
Today I hope the following quotes by A.W. Tozer inspire your faith and walk with Jesus. Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897—1963) was an American pastor in the Christian and Missionary Alliance. He authored several books. A.W. Tozer was extremely influential in evangelical Christianity in his generation and was often called a “twentieth-century prophet.”
“Go back to the grass roots. Open your hearts and search the Scriptures. Bear your cross, follow your Lord and pay no heed to the passing religious vogue. The masses are always wrong. In every generation the number of the righteous is small. Be sure you are among them.”
Rules for Self Discovery: 1. "What we want most; 2. What we think about most; 3. How we use our money; 4. What we do with our leisure time; 5. The company we enjoy; 6. Who and what we admire; 7. What we laugh at.”
“I want the presence of God Himself, or I don’t want anything at all to do with religion... I want all that God has or I don’t want any.”
“Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will.”
“We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts”
"When you kill time, remember that it has no resurrection.”
“God never uses anyone greatly until He tests them deeply.”
“If we understand that everything happening to us is to make us more Christlike, it will solve a great deal of anxiety in our lives.”
“God does his deepest work in our darkest hours.”
“Religion today is not transforming people; rather it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society; it is descending to society’s own level, and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smilingly accepting its surrender.”
“The cross where Jesus died became also the cross where His apostle died. The loss, the rejection, the shame, belong both to Christ and to all who in very truth are His. the cross that saves them also slays them, and anything short of this is a pseudo-faith and not true faith at all.”
“The only cross in all of history that was turned into an altar was the cross on which Jesus Christ died. It was a Roman cross. They nailed Him on it, and God, in His majesty and mystery, turned it into an altar. The Lamb who was dying in the mystery and wonder of God was turned into the Priest who offered Himself. No one else was a worthy offering.”
“The whole Bible supports the idea. God is speaking. Not God spoke, but God is speaking. He is by His nature continuously articulate. He fills the world with His speaking Voice."
“If you will not worship God seven days a week, you do not worship Him one day a week.”
“Worship is no longer worship when it reflects the culture around us more than the Christ within us.”
“The world lives in a time of crisis. Christians alone are in a position to rescue the perishing. We dare not settle down to try to live as if things were normal.”
“This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
“Deity indwelling men! That, I say is Christianity!”
