"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." 3 John 1:4
God exists! Because He exists, God is the measure of all things, and what He thinks about all things is the measure of what we should think. Not to care about truth is not to care about God.
Without an absolute standard, what is right or wrong would be relative and dependent on each individual. As much as we may want to, we cannot determine what is right and wrong on our own. Our Creator, the Source of all truth, has revealed what we need to know of right and wrong in His Word.
Living a God-centered life means being truth-centered, and to measure all things in life, based on what God says in His Word. So many things in life may sound good, feel good, or simply be the easiest choice but end up being the wrong choice! But when we measure everything by God’s Word we will never go wrong!
All Scripture is “God-breathed” truth and 100 percent reliable [I Timothy 3:16-17]. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, regarded Scripture as the ultimate standard. He claimed, “Your word is truth” [John 17:17]. Psalm 119 speaks of the greatness of the Word of God and makes this claim of absolute, unchanging truth: "The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever" [Psalm 119:160].
Living in a world full of lies, it’s vital that we live in the Word of God, which is God’s Truth—the only foundation for right and wrong. Live in the truth and you will not be misled by the lies.
